Though Square Dancing is an international activity, it is a community based at its core. Square Dance Clubs are started & ran by volunteers, and money that is collected is used to cover costs like hall rental & Caller expenses, with anything left over allocated to growing Square Dancing.
Square Dance Callers are not volunteers; they are professionals whose skills are the foundation of the activity. To become a Square Dance Caller, one must not only spend a significant amount of time training and learning the language of Square Dancing, but also invest in sound equipment, music, & insurance. Square Dancing is also a widespread activity, with many Callers accruing travel expenses as a part of their job, and advertisement expenses in order to reach new markets.
Today, many Callers have additional employment, but some make Square Dance Calling their full time job. Events are intended to cover Caller expenses, but many clubs may not have the means to be as generous as they'd like. In such cases, many callers will choose to support Square Dancing, valuing creating positive memories & experiences overall. Square Dancers are the friendliest and most kindhearted people.
Below there is a donation link. If you choose to donate, the proceeds will be used to grow Square Dancing in Northwest Indiana by supporting local callers & beginner square dancer classes. Your generosity won't go un-noticed, and you will have played a part in growing Square Dancing for generations to come! Any amount, big or small, is greatly appreciated, and we thank you for your help.
